PlayStation Plus has something for subscribers to look forward to this September with some exciting new titles, including a potential indie game and a magical sports adventure. Following the recent additions of games like Borderlands 3 and Remnant 2 in July, Sony is keeping the momentum going with these releases.
Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions. (PS5, PS4)
This game throws you into the fast-paced action of Quidditch, the iconic sport from the Harry Potter series. In Quidditch Champions, players will pick their Hogwarts house, and take to the skies on their broomstick. The game’s tight controls and flying physics allow players to be fully engaged in each match. Players also have the option to dive into a single-player story campaign that explores the history and lore of Quidditch or enter multiplayer matches with others to compete in different leagues. Launching on September 15, this title is expected to bring a lot of excitement to the PS Plus lineup. Pre-orders come with exclusive bonuses such as a Golden Snitch skin and early access to certain teams.
The Plucky Squire. (PS5 Extra, Premium)
Another game making its debut as a day-one release on PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium is The Plucky Squire on September 17, 2024. This vibrant action-adventure game has been gaining traction since its announcement. In this game, players will follow the story of Jot, a brave squire who starts his journey in a 2D storybook world. What makes this title stand out is its ability to integrate 2D and 3D gameplay. Jot can jump out of the 2D pages and into the 3D world, adding a new dimension to the adventure. This mix of styles keeps the gameplay exciting, with challenges that take full advantage of both formats.
Devolver Digital is well known for indie games such as Cult of the Lamb, Hotline Miami, and Inscryption, increasing expectations for this title. Although the game has a colorful, storybook-like appearance, it’s likely to appeal to a wide audience rather than casual gamers. The developer, All Possible Futures, founded by industry veterans Jonathan Biddle and James Turner, has crafted a world that feels both nostalgic and innovative, with gameplay elements that harken back to classic 3D action RPGs. One standout gameplay segment shows Jot using a jetpack in his 2D form, rotating a curved column in the 3D world, showcasing the unique art and gameplay. With its day-one launch on September 17, The Plucky Squire will be available to a wide audience right out of the gate, thanks to its inclusion in the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium tiers.
